Things to Do in the Garden this Month
I have updated my seasonal calendar page,
http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/chatham/ag/homehort/HomeCal.html.
For those who have time to plan ahead, I’ve added suggestions for May and made some minor additions for April.
It’s a very busy season in the edible garden. With warmer weather it’s also a busy time for garden pests in both edible and ornamental plants. I’ve already observed Eastern Tent Caterpillar nests (see May). As azaleas finish bloom and new growth starts, we’ll see lacebugs move onto that new growth. Bagworm eggs will hatch next month. You’ll want to pay attention.
Let me know if there are things to do or watch for that I’ve overlooked. I seldom remember everything and appreciate your eyes in the field helping me keep up.
