Heading towards the front gate of Piedmont Biofuels Industrial in Pittsboro.

Piedmont Biofuels co-founder Lyle Estill, author of Biodiesel Power.

Landscape designer Deborah Eagle (right) and project assistant Tes Thraves
discuss soil preparation activities for the day.

Lyle and Tes next to the new recycled scuplture/planter.

Standing inside the front gate. The area to the left has been prepared for planting.
Compost was added to improve soil quality.

Another area that has been prepared for planting.
The hydroponic lettuce greenhouse is seen on the left.

Ralph "Screech" Sweger runs Screech Owl Greenhouse at Piedmont Industrial
and he has greenhouse hydroponic lettuce production down to an art! He markets
his lettuce through the local farmers' markets and also through Eastern Carolina Organics,
about 50 feet away! You can also buy lettuce on site through the honor system.
It's that kind of place!

Now we are standing near the greenhouse and looking back towards the gate.
The area straight ahead has also been prepared for planting.

Here's a close-up view of that area just inside the gate.
