Lee Farms
Jimmy and Donna Lee
Moncure, NC

Late April and early May is tobacco planting time in the Piedmont. Jimmy Lee works with a crew of workers to set tobacco using a tractor-drawn transplanter. A couple of workers follow behind to fill in any missed gaps, often leaving behind a sign of their handiwork in the moist soil (see the handprint?). The Lees also grow strawberries, greenhouse tomatoes, and other produce on their farm.
