Chatham Extends Deadline for Photo Contest for Ag & Conference Center

PITTSBORO, NC—  The new Chatham County Agriculture & Conference Center in Pittsboro opens later this year, with plans to have large photography displays that play tribute to the great diversity of agriculture in the county. Chatham County has extended the deadline and is offering more options for submitting agricultural photography that could be selected for display in the center.

The extended deadline is Friday, July 29, 2016.  To obtain a submission form and get information on several options for submitting photos, please contact Larilee Isley at 919-545-8393 or larilee.isley@chathamnc.org.

Chatham County invites all professional and amateur photographers with high quality images of agricultural activities and scenes to please submit their entries. Selected photographers will be honored at our grand opening exhibition event.

The images might reflect active farm operations, agricultural landscapes, agricultural products, farm machinery in action, farm workers, livestock, horticulture, forestry, farmers’ markets, food processing, beekeeping and other agricultural-related scenes. Any images with children under age 18 will require a parental waiver form.

The contest will include single images that stand alone or triple photo murals that can be displayed as a three-photo display.

The images can be in color, black and white or sepia tones, preferably in JPG or PNG format. The photos should not be heavily processed with artistic filters.

The photos will be enlarged to a minimum of 18 X 24 inches and some as large as 36 X 48 inches, so it is important that the photos be at least 150 dots per inch for large reproduction.

Each photographer can submit an unlimited number of photos. All photos must have Chatham County subjects, but the photographer does not have to live in the county.

All photos selected for display in the center will have signage identifying the photographer and will include descriptive information submitted by the photographer. The county will not identify any image location by address, but may list names of farms, businesses, etc. The county expects to rotate images used in the center once or twice a year.

A few photos may be used in materials to market the Agriculture & Conference Center, such as its website or social media pages.

All photographers selected to have images displayed at the center will be invited to the Grand Opening and will be recognized at this event. A printed program will include information about each exhibiting photographer.

A committee including representatives of Cooperative Extension, Pittsboro-Siler City Convention & Visitors Bureau, Farm Bureau, and County Manager’s Office will make the photography selections.
