Growing From Within: Building Community Capacity

We are pleased to announce the 2017 Grassroots Leadership Conference will be held on Thursday, November 16th at the Chatham County Agriculture and Conference Center. This year’s theme is “Growing From Within: Building Community Capacity.”

This event is free and open to the public. Lunch will be provided.

This event is being hosted by Cooperative Extension at North Carolina A&T State University, the Strategic Planning Council, and N.C. Cooperative Extension – Chatham County Center. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the program will be from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The conference will share best practices and strategies that community residents can use to identify priorities and opportunities and work together with others to foster positive change. Our keynote address will be given by Rich Harwood, who is founder and president of The Harwood Institute for Public Innovation, a nonpartisan, independent nonprofit that teaches, coaches and inspires people and organizations to solve pressing problems and change how communities work together.

In addition, we will have a series of interactive workshop sessions to cover how community residents can:

  • Turn community aspirations into actions
  • Invest in your community
  • Build effective coalitions and partnerships
  • Partner with youth to make a difference
