Cherokee Rider’s 4-H Horse Club will be transitioning to a new volunteer leader holding the reign’s as club leader. Long-time leader, Angie Hopkins, is not going to far she is transitioning to assistant and Erika Hedden is coming on board as the new leader.

Angie Hopkins

Angie loving on her horse.

Angie’s daughter, Carly, is aging out of 4-H and Angie felt like it was time for a fresh face and someone that could help give the club some new faces and new activities. Erika has been a long-time supporter of the club with her daughter Faith participating but she also has two younger daughters that she wants to help enjoy the 4-H experience as well. So after going through her volunteer application and being an approved volunteer,  Erika will take over as leader in September. Don’t worry for our older members and families, Angie is still here but we are looking forward to many more years as a club with Erika coming on board as the main club leader with her wealth of horse knowledge.

Erika’s new addition.

Our first meeting under new leadership was September 10, 2019, at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Cherokee County Center, 40 Peachtree Street, Murphy, at 6:30 p.m. Plans were made to hold the meetings monthly at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Cherokee County Center, 40 Peachtree Street, Murphy, at 6:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month. Erika is a great asset to Cherokee County 4-H and the Cherokee Rider’s 4-H Horse Club and we appreciate her willing to give of her time and love of horses to lead this club.

Remember to come out and check out the club. We do not require you to own a horse or even be able to ride a horse to join the club just have an interest in horses and learning more about them.
