No April Fools! The esteemed Marie Mims Butler is coming to Currituck. Interest in sustainable uses of natural resources, organic practices, and home gardening, continues to rise with increasing concern about the health and safety of families, pets, and the environment. Generally, organic gardeners focus on practices that enhance soil health and plant nutrition, as well as suppress weeds. Organic gardeners control weeds and other pests (including disease organisms) without the use of synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. Save money, eat better, and stay healthier by learning to garden organically. A brief biography from our guest speaker can be found below.

Bio: It may be hard to believe, but Marie Mims Butler has been gardening for over 50 of her “29” years. Her horticultural career launched at NC State University and has included teaching at the school for the blind, designing residential and commercial landscapes, studying and teach floral design in Japan, and presiding over the gardens of the Virginia Zoo as Landscape Coordinator. These days, Marie travels the country as a Regional Director for GardenComm, an association for garden communicators, and shares her love of horticulture with everyone. You are welcome to join Marie in laughter and learning.

N.C. Cooperative Extension, Currituck County Center will host this Organic Gardening class on Wednesday, April 1, 2020, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Register online for this free workshop at: https://organicgardeningcurrituck.eventbrite.com
