Can you imagine cooking without the sweet, savory and spicy notes of onions, garlic, shallots and leeks? Join the Extension Master Gardener Volunteers of Chatham County for a workshop on growing these versatile cool season allium crops. Participants will learn about recommended varieties for our region, growing requirements, planting techniques and timing, irrigation and fertilizing, harvesting and storage, and pest management.

Then, we will head outside to the Demonstration Garden at the Chatham County Agricultural & Conference Center  to see how to plant garlic, onions and leeks, and to learn how to install row covers for managing pests. You will want to include these fun to grow crops in your cool season garden!
