2024 Extension Gardener: Learn to Grow Series

Are you interested in learning more about gardening? Come take a class with N.C. Extension of Haywood County. The Learn to Grow series and Lifelong Gardening classes provide our community with information presented by Horticulture Agent, Rachel Douglas and NC State Extension Master Gardener℠ volunteers on a full variety of home gardening topics. Classes provide research-based, unbiased information on current garden and landscape practices.


Please also consider attending free classes at other locations around Haywood County where Extension Master Gardener volunteers will be guest speakers.

Maggie Valley Community Garden

Maggie Valley Community Garden is hosting classes at the First Baptist Church in Maggie Valley (3634 Soco Road, Maggie Valley, NC 28751). Master Gardener volunteers, as guest speakers, will present a lesson lasting approx. 1 hour. This will be followed by outdoor demonstrations approx. 30 minutes at the Maggie Valley Community Garden. Please note: The community garden is a short walk from the parking lot on uneven grassy terrain.

Composting presented by Bonnie Refinski-Knight & Lisa Townsend  – Tuesday, May 21, 10:00 a.m. Registration coming soon!
Lifelong Gardening presented by Carleen Trevino & Rusti Nichols – Wednesday, June 19, 10 a.m. Registration will be posted in the coming weeks!
