After placing 3rd at the Regional Youth Cattle Working Contest back in November 2022, the Chatham County Youth Cattle Working Team went to Laurel Springs, NC on Tuesday, May 2nd to compete at the State Youth Cattle Working Contest. Our team included Lilli Pilkington, Nathan Barbour, Mykalah Pettitt, and Emma Langley.

This competition included a written test based on beef quality assurance and beef cattle husbandry, breed ID, tool ID, feed ID, and working 3 cattle through a chute. The teams had to load 3 animals into the chute, catch them in the headgate, and administer 3 vaccines and pour-on dewormer, and update records.
