Healthy Home Spring Cleaning Tips for the Kitchen

(Updated: May 15, 2023, 10:37 a.m.)

June is National Healthy Homes Month and a great time to brush up on home cleaning tips and safety reminders.

Most kitchens stay pretty busy with food storage, food prep and cooking, meal clean-up and eating. With all that use, our kitchens need regular cleaning to keep everyone safe.

House Cleaning Safety Tips
  1. Open a window, run a ventilation fan, and wear protective gear as needed.
  2. Label any homemade cleaning products even if you think you'll remember what's in the bottle.
  3. Keep children safe by using the sprayer locks on cleaning bottles, keeping cleaning products out of reach and closed while cleaning if children are present.
  4. Buy the right tools to do the cleaning job safely. If a cleaning situation feels too dicey, just leave if or hire someone why has the appropriate gear to do it for you.
