Extension Gardener Webinar

Trees and shrubs are important elements in a diverse, ecologically functional landscape. Unlike herbaceous ornamentals, whose aboveground parts die back each year, woody plants have permanent, aboveground stems that grow in length and girth annually. Trees and shrubs provide additional vertical layers of space that add visual interest and habitats for a wider array of wildlife. Woody ornamentals can help define boundaries of landscapes, provide color in different seasons, including flowers in spring and summer, foliage color and texture, and winter interest.

Join Matt Jones (Extension Horticulture Agent)  for a free, online lecture about selecting and establishing trees and shrubs in the home landscape.  Participants will learn how to assess site and soil conditions, best practices for planting and maintaining woody ornamentals, and considerations for selecting appropriate species for different conditions and functions.
