Pittsboro, N.C. – N.C. A&T State University has announced that Sydney Kain will serve as a summer intern with the Chatham County Center.
Extension summer interns work alongside Extension personnel to help deliver hands-on educational programs while gaining valuable experience through job shadowing and mentorship opportunities. The internship program provides students with insight into the mission and daily work of Cooperative Extension and helps prepare them for rewarding careers in agriculture, natural resources, family and consumer sciences, and related fields.
Kain is a Cary native and 2021 graduate of Panther Creek High School. She is currently majoring in nutrition at the University of North Carolina Greensboro where she participates in the Disciplinary Honors program and maintains Chancellor’s List standing. Outside of her studies and professional development, Kain is an avid fitness enthusiast who has recently added running to her fitness routine. She also works as a fitness assistant at the Leonard J. Kaplan Center for Wellness at UNCG. When her schedule permits, she also enjoys participating in community theater.
This internship aligns closely with Kain’s long-term career goals. Following graduation, Kain plans to continue her studies by pursuing a Master of Public Health. Ultimately, her career focus will center on promoting food access and educating local communities about nutrition and wellness.
Kain is excited to spend the summer in Chatham County and looks forward to learning more about the work Extension agents and support staff provide to the community each day.
