Managing diabetes begins with everyday food choices, and learning practical skills in the kitchen can make a meaningful difference. Cooking for Diabetes Management is a four-week, interactive Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) series designed to help participants build confidence in preparing meals that support healthy blood sugar levels and overall health.
This program is offered in partnership with the Chatham County Public Health Department and led by Registered Dietitians Laura Hearn and Tara Gregory. In addition to practical cooking guidance and nutrition tips, participants will also learn about other important aspects of diabetes self-management, such as monitoring, stress management, and physical activity.
Each session will include nutrition education, cooking demonstrations, and a nutritious meal. Participants will gain useful strategies for meal planning, label reading, and making healthier choices at home.
