Description:

Hey kids! Do you know what an engineer is or how they do their jobs? Do you know that there are over 40 different types of engineers working everyday to imagine, invent, design and build things that often change the world? Artificial retinas for the blind, more fuel efficient cars, satellites that detect drought, new cell phones and clothing that repels mosquitos are all products designed by engineers that have improved people’s everyday lives.
Currituck County 4-H is hosting an “Engineering is Everywhere Science Camp”, for youth ages 10 and up, August 16-18, from 9 am to 4 pm each day. Camp will be held at the Currituck County Center, located at 120 Community Way, Barco, NC 27917. Pre-registration; including a camp fee of $45 is required.
The camp will provide youth a fun and positive glimpse into various fields of engineering through the use of hands-on, creative investigations and real-world building activities. Youth will be divided into teams and challenged to design and build devices or technologies that solve real world problems. Boats, robotic arms, rockets, rovers and airplanes are a few of the projects youth will imagine, design and build during this camp. Youth will also have the opportunity to work together as a team to engineer a solution to a biomedical engineering challenge by participating in a mock outbreak scenario.
This will be a fun, interactive, and exciting camp that you don’t want to miss!
Registration forms for the class can be found by visiting: go.ncsu.edu/engineeringiseverywhere Please bring the required forms and camp fees to NC Cooperative Extension, Currituck County Center 120 Community Way Barco, NC 27917.
